Another hugely successful Cycling Event

13/04/2017

This year marks the 4th year of our proud partnership with Naas Cycling Club. One of Naas Cycling Clubs many charity events ‘Tour de Foothills’ took place last Sunday 9/4/16.

We had the pleasure of hosting this event in our showrooms here in Naas. Helping out charity events such as this is something we are very fond of and try to do as much as we possibly can.

The NCC Tour de Foothills was an opportunity for all cyclists to enjoy a day in the saddle while taking in all the scenery of the Wicklow Foothills with a 110km or 65km route. All proceeds of the event went directly to Saplings School for Children with Autism & Special Needs, Kill, Co. Kildare.

The event was an outstanding success with close to 500 cyclists taking to the saddle in aid of this very worthy cause. Luckily it was dry for the cyclists this year which was a nice change from the weather in previous years. The sun even decided to show its face and brighten up the long cycle for all involved.

There was a great buzz around the showroom as always for this event. The cyclists were up and in early all eager to register and get going on their journey to raise some well-deserved funds for Saplings School in Kill.

As always the event would not have been possible without the help of all the marshals, the medical and mechanical backup, the parents and volunteers from Saplings, NCC volunteers and all the companies and individuals who sponsored or helped out in the event. Every single person involved should be very proud of themselves and the difference there help has made to the children of Saplings.

Just to give you a small insight into the wonderful charity that is Saplings:
It is one of only thirteen schools in Ireland that specifically provides a one to one education to children with Autism through ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis) and other educational techniques. Saplings teaches life skills and academic curricula with an educational programme individually built around each child’s needs, strengths and level of Autism.

All the money raised by the cycle will go towards funding an onsite Speech and Language Therapist in the school for three days a week.

Long after the 2017 TDF is forgotten about, the children of Saplings will have the use of their new Sppech and Language Therapist, so well done to everyone who helped to make that happen.

All of the staff at Finlay’s are very proud of the event and how well it was organized by Naas Cycling Club. We wish them every success with future events and cycles. If the Tour de Foothills is anything to go by it is going to be another great year’s cycling for the club.
